Nagpur, June 10, 2026: The city of Nagpur witnessed two significant developments on Tuesday, reflecting both political engagement and social activism. While the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) celebrated its foundation day with enthusiasm, members of the Muslim community organized a peaceful protest demanding that the cow be declared India's national animal.

NCP Celebrates Foundation Day with Enthusiasm

The foundation day of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the party's office in the Bajaj Nagar area of Nagpur. Party leaders, office bearers, and workers gathered in large numbers to mark the occasion and reaffirm their commitment to the party's ideals and future goals.

The highlight of the event was the flag hoisting ceremony conducted by Nagpur Municipal Corporation Corporator Abha Pandey. The ceremony was attended by several office bearers and workers associated with the NCP faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Party members expressed confidence in the leadership and discussed plans to strengthen the party organization at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, party workers highlighted the contribution of the NCP in Maharashtra's political landscape and emphasized the need to continue working for public welfare and development. The gathering also served as an opportunity for party members to interact and discuss organizational strategies ahead of upcoming political challenges.

To commemorate the foundation day, the party organized various cultural and social programs throughout the day. These initiatives aimed to engage local citizens and reinforce the party's commitment to community development and social service.

Muslim Community Demands National Animal Status for Cow

On the same day, a unique and peaceful demonstration was held at Constitution Square (Samvidhan Chowk) in Nagpur by members of the Muslim community. The protest focused on the demand to declare "Gomata" (the cow) as the national animal of India.

Community representatives gathered at the venue and later submitted a memorandum to the District Collector outlining their demand. The memorandum urged the government to consider granting national animal status to the cow and implement stronger measures for cow protection and welfare.

In a symbolic gesture, members of the community presented a cow to authorities as part of their campaign. Organizers stated that the move was intended to draw the government's attention to the importance of cow protection and to promote harmony and respect for cultural values associated with the animal.

Participants emphasized that the movement was not political in nature but aimed at encouraging broader awareness about cow conservation and the role of cattle in Indian society. The protest remained peaceful and orderly throughout, with organizers ensuring that all activities were conducted within legal and administrative guidelines.

Reflection of Democratic Participation

Both events showcased different aspects of democratic participation in Nagpur. While the NCP's foundation day celebration highlighted political organization and public outreach, the Muslim community's demonstration reflected the use of peaceful civic engagement to raise social and cultural issues.

The day underscored Nagpur's vibrant public life, where political activities and social movements continue to play an important role in shaping public discourse and community engagement.
