Nagpur, June 10, 2026: In a significant action against illegal liquor manufacturing, the Crime Branch Unit No. 1 of Nagpur City Police conducted a major raid in the Hingna Police Station jurisdiction and unearthed an unauthorized country liquor production operation. The operation led to the seizure of illicit liquor and related materials collectively valued at approximately ₹2.48 lakh.

According to information released by the Crime Branch, the action was carried out in the early hours of June 10, 2026, following a tip-off received from a confidential informant. The information indicated that illegal country liquor was being manufactured in the Chandrapur Rithi (Kinhi) area under the Hingna Police Station limits.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a team comprising officers from Crime Branch Unit No. 1, the RCP squad, and local Hingna Police personnel launched a coordinated raid at around 4:30 a.m. The police team surrounded the location and conducted a surprise operation.

During the raid, officials found two individuals allegedly engaged in the illegal production of country liquor using mahua flowers, jaggery, and other raw materials. The accused were reportedly operating makeshift distillation units without any legal authorization or license.

The arrested accused have been identified as Deepak Rambhau Pawar (42) and Dnyaneshwar Shriram Marwadi (45), both residents of the Chandrapur Rithi (Kinhi) area under the Hingna jurisdiction. The police stated that the duo was involved in manufacturing and possessing illicit liquor in violation of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

During the operation, authorities seized country liquor, fermented mahua wash, distillation equipment, and other materials used in the illegal brewing process. The total value of the confiscated property and materials has been estimated at ₹2,48,200.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, including provisions relating to the unauthorized manufacture, possession, and transportation of liquor. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were operating independently or were part of a larger network involved in the illegal liquor trade.

Senior police officials have appreciated the timely action taken by the Crime Branch team. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Naveenchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajendra Dabhade (Crime), Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepak Agrawal (Detection), and Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Abhijit Patil (Crime).

The successful raid highlights the continued efforts of the Nagpur City Police to curb illegal activities and ensure public safety. Illegal liquor manufacturing not only causes significant revenue losses to the government but also poses serious health risks to consumers due to the absence of quality control and safety standards.

Police officials have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illicit liquor production or distribution. Authorities reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against individuals involved in such unlawful operations and maintaining law and order across the city.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests or seizures may follow as police continue to probe the matter.
